"Finish the book. As you read, focus on motifs and also on weather, seasons, and elements of settings that connect with this idea, marking passages that connect and using your annotations to explore you thinking about them."

In the book All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque there are a bunch of motifs that really stick out to me after finishing this book. The things that stick out to me is the obsessive ways they talk about the sanitary conditions in the trenches and all the places they sleep, eat, and even dream and how it isnt the cleanest places in the world. Another thing that sticks out to me is how they talk about the treacherous noises of crackling machine guns and explosions left and right across no mans land. Though out my annotations I really start to see how all the soldiers are alot like brother. They cry for there mothers, and each others family's together. They see each other live die and enjoy life. They go through more together than any brothers ever will. Over all the pages in this book it really explains to me how war was really like and the things they really emphasize for the reader to understand more about what they truly went through and they feeling and thoughts they had together.
