In the book All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque on page 94 Kate and Paul are cooking a goose in the middle of the night. Paul says, "we don't talk much, but i believe we have a more complete communication with one another then even lovers have." Showing that they lived though so much and they have seen and just spend so much time in such a hard time knowing that just there closet friends shaded the biggest ups and downs of the war all together with each other. The fact they did all that together shows there really closer than married or people in love have shared cause of everything they lived though together.
