"Read ch. 6. What images, objects, or ideas does Remarque repeat? Consider this chapter and others. Look for these patterns and, when you find them, reflect on what these patterns reveal."

In the book All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque there are some big patterns he reveals about war and the trench life. The number one pattern in this chapter and other chapters was the sanitary problems they had in the war. The number one problem was the rats on pages 101-107 they briefly talk about the rats getting into there food and carrying diseases. To the point were they clam on page 103 to make war with the rats in a scenes they cause that much trouble for them. Not only do they have to worry about the cracking and loud noises of bombs and guns going off the one thing they have like food and water is being poisoned by rats  that makes a huge problem.
